Preharvest application with calcium and maturity at harvest affects postharvest fungal fruit decay of European plum

چکیده
Abstract The combination of preharvest treatments with calcium chloride and fungicides, storage maturity graded fruit were assessed in five European plum cultivars. At harvest, samples within a commercially suitable range ripening divided into two categories: less-ripe (tree ripe-) more-ripe ripe+). stored for 10–14 days at 4 °C followed by 2–3 20 before the assessment fungal decay. If was applied six times each season, postharvest decay significantly reduced four nine experiments, total mean reduction around 50%. Two applications fungicide treatment approx. 60% compared to untreated one experiment. In seven experiments there no effect applications. 10 category tree ripe- had fewer after than ripe+fruit. higher incidence ripe+fruit primarily due brown rot, Mucor blue mould. For ripe+, ten more on simulated shelf-life period. To ensure low decay, commercial harvest may thus be separated categories, rapid distribution market ripe+) another extended time ripe-).

Incidence of green mold of citrus, caused by Penicillium digitatum, was reduced by 80% or more by the immersion of lemons or oranges for 1–4 min in warm (40.6–43.3°C) ‘liquid lime-sulfur’ (LLS) solution that contained 0.75% (wt vol) calcium polysulfide. The incidence of sour rot, caused by Geotrichum citri-aurantii, was reduced 35–70% by this treatment. LLS was similar in effectiveness to other...

متن کاملDoes Preharvest Stress of Plants Affect Postharvest Decay
In discussion related to the planning of the present workshop on 'disease resistance in fruit', the question arose as to whether fruit harvested from stressed plants have increased, decreased, or unchanged susceptibility to pathogens whose disease symptoms are expressed after harvest. For example, does preharvest water deficit stress affect the incidence and severity of stem-end rot (endophytic...
متن کاملEffect of Preharvest Factors and Bruising in Stone Fruit Decay
In troduct ion The fruit skin (cuticle and epidermis) provides barrier protection against infection by pathogens. Most fungi are unable to penetrate healthy fruit skin and must enter through wounds. Fruit resistance to infection resulting from the biochemical action of tissues is not the result of a single compound or a single mechanism. Multiple systems with complex interactions may be involve...
